March
on
Main Street

    January 14, 2024

In spite of frigid temperatures, the bright sunshine warmed the spirits of the crowd of over 100 marchers Sunday, January 14th, as participants converged at Prospect Hill Shopping Center and marched through downtown Milford to The Suzanne Haskew Arts Center (The SHAC) for the concluding ceremony.  During the march, participants were able to appreciate the MLK Day word banners on display in the storefront windows at over 30 local businesses.  Inside the arts center were all of 2024’s submissions to the Art/Writing/Multimedia Contest, information about MLK Day, and displays honoring Dr. King and the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement.  Several artists received awards and recognition for their submissions to the contest based on this year’s theme, “Justice for All”, and the event concluded with music and information about upcoming community service efforts.  The March on Main Street also featured the National Anthem performed by members of Milford High School’s Center Stage, under the direction of Brittany Miller, as well as a concluding performance provided by Milford High School student Shea Giese.
